Hey I was just wondering if anyone could help me? Me and my boyfriend want to know which is best in terms of saving. Whether that woudl be a montly bill or getting a gas meter installed.
He moved into his flat almost a month ago, and is still yet to recieve a bill, but he is being swayed more towards the 'pay as you go' options, so he can keep track of what we spend.
In serious need of help?? Thanks guys, x

Use a comparison site and see for yourself the cost variation for your own particular usage."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100

Basically there are 3 ways to pay for gas/elec - PAYG (PPM), Pay on Bill or Monthly DD.
The 1st 2 basically cost about the same, they obviously have the disadvantage of the cost not being the same every month throughout the year so make a monthly budghet harder to manage. With ppm there is the obvious benefit of never running up a debt or getting a sudden large bill.
The last method is the cheapest and can be made cheaper if you have an online tariff, you also pay the same every month.
With options 2 & 3 the golden rule is to check every bill and if it is based on an estimated reading, read the meter immediatly and call the supplier if the reading is more that a few units out.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.
