Best site for comparing prices?

I am currently with british gas on a click energy 5.

From what i can work out im currently paying:

Gas - 6.982 / 3.125p + VAT
Electricity - 21.620p / 9.382p + VAT

Tried moneysupermarket dot com etc and its impossible to know if what is shown is correct. Results are just listed by savings.

Anyone know of a site which compares by unit price? Surely unit price is the only proper way to compare prices.

Trust the outcome. Unit prices are just one of the factors. First/second tier rates,standing charges, Economy 7, discounts for this and that.

All the comparison sites have back up to drill down into the rates if needed but you can rely on them to provide a good answer if you put your correct consumption details in.

For what it's worth I use either Uswitch,energyhelpline or moneysupermarket,but others do the same job.

They usually do show the unit prices, it just that it's not necessarily obvious how to find them.

For example, with moneysupermarket, once you've got your list of results, you need to click on the 'Annual bill / Unit price' tab to see the unit prices, and then the 'Show discounts' link for more info.

Personally I'd prefer that info to be more easily accessible.

The only way to compare is by total annual cost.
This is what all the comparison sites do.
Martin lists about half a dozen comparison sites.
I would suggest you use a couple to see if you get consistent results (consistent results would indicate they are correct - it would be unlikely that two independent sites would come up with the same erroneous output)
All the sites also give the breakdown of what makes up the annual cost if you look carefully (details such as unit costs, standing charges, discounts, etc)
