A scam or legit???

  • Remember that this could be even worse than you think it is.

Maybe the 'bond' will sound cheap, but they will demand payment in such a way [to confirm you are the correct person...] that they can intercept enough details to clean out the whole account before you can say "I was born yesterday".

The company is called Harris James Associates in new York.
It is a scam. The company is on the FSA warning list:

Harris James Associates Share scam is 100% a scam. You never ever have to pay money up front for a bond etc to sell shares.

You never ever get contacted via unsolicited phone calls to sell shares by overseas "brokers".

Any details you pass on are likely to be circulated to other scammers on their "suckers list" for further contact to be made. If someone loses money on these scams it generally snowballs as other scammers join in fleecing them.
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.

I wish I'd had such good fortune as to have an American company offer to buy some of my shares on a client's behalf (shares that I don't recall buying, or have no information on).

I suppose I`ll have to make do with an email that I got the other day, stating that the Inland Revenue are going to give me a tax refund, all I need to do is fill in the attached form (which for some reason had been deleted by my virus checker).

I had a phone call this morning, offering to "fix" my PC, as it apparently has lots of errors that could cause it to fail any minute. I`m sure they could have fixed it, if I had allowed them online access to it. I was going to do a clean install of Windows anyway, so I thanked them for their kind offer, but declined their "help". :D

You too :-))....hang on to the equipment/dish.
  • Contacted by phone last night by lady claiming to be from New York company wanting to buy my shares (currently 40p +) for £6 to £15.

I own 170 shares in this company - obviously a large shareholder !!

Has sent me confidentiality agreement to sign and return.

    Have notified FSA
  • In fact, you're very likely to hear from them again, though not necessarily using the same name. Once they've found a good target and scammed someone once they go on a 'suckers list' to be scammed again and as often as they'll bite.

it's shocking that 'some' people are falling for scams as obvious as these.
