Census website is badly designed

Options
Just getting round to filling in the census, but got stuck at the second page where it asks for names - my wife's surname doesn't fit in the box provided, although the actual text box is big enough, they've limited the number of characters to about half the size of the box, which is a bit useless. Hugh Fernley-Whittingstall is screwed too.

Then, when looking at the help to find out what to do, the website timed out and on trying to log back I now have to wait an extra 10 minutes after timing out before logging in again. Huh???

If I didn't have to fill the thing out I would have given up at this point...

Why not do it by hand and post it or have you made a few errors and are filling it online

    Neither can I.

Also having trouble with the student finance one where all the details are in for one student, the other says waiting for my info, but all the fields are filled in and can't be edited anyway and clicking on 'continue' at the end of each page takes me back round to the first one.

    Government forms easier on line?

Just fill out the paper one. It takes 10 minutes.

I did it online on Sunday and had no problems. (I've a short surname though.)

Still can't get it to recognise the number and am now at work using IE rather than firefox, so it can't be that. I hate phones and forms, so hoped that on line would be easy.
