'Separated' statutory declaration template/wording

  • Hi I'm in pretty much the same boat. I sent in all the stuff from Working Tax Credit to show I am single and have been checked several times by Revenue and Customs...my problem is my ex insisted we divided the marital home til our son is out of education...we have a Berlin Wall and only share the front gate. So has anyone got a template please? The solicitor I used when were separating now no longer practises and they said all that paperwork was too old and out of date so the only option I have is the Stat Dec. That they wouldn't accept the findings from HM Customs etc is a joke as they were really thorough.

If you share a home, even with a Berlin wall, does your son still live with both of you? If so, then his father would also be expected to contribute and sf would expect his details to be included.

  • HI Could you kindly forward the template for declaration of separation, I need it for my student financial as well. Thank you very much.
  • Just thought I would update this thread, after sending student finance half a tree in relation to evidence to support that I do not live with my ex husband to be. Including sole tenancy agreement all the utility bills in my name bank account info etc etc I also sent in my council tax bill also to show I was solely liable for that bill too. I do not get a 25% single occupancy discount due to having adult children at home. This sent them into the default you must provide proof of seperation. Using the template from rajpoot I drafted my letter and made a statutory declaration at the magistrates court it cost £25 I swore in and explained the situation to the magistrates under oath. The magistrates signed and stamped it with the court stamp it was sent the same day.

I have just spoken to student finance expecting further information to be needed like unedited cctv footage of my house for the last yr, blood samples or shoe size or some other impossible obstacle course to complete, just because they can. Apparently they are happy with the statutory declaration and they are processing my daughters grant element :T

Deep sigh of relief, many thanks to the forum
