Is completion day always on a Friday?

We've just been advised by our (very slow) online solicitor that we can exchange once we've sent documents back. Yippee!! So we're looking for the earliest possible completion date. I think we might be cutting it fine to complete this friday but don't really want to wait until the following friday unless we absolutely have to. Can we complete on any working day of the week? OR does it have to be a friday?

You can complete any day of the week, people just have a preference for Friday as it give them the weekend to sort stuff out before returning to work0

Agreed, and if there is any length of chain it tends to be easier to get everyone to agree a Friday, but it doesn't have to be - but obviously can't be a day the banks aren't working.RICHARD WEBSTER
As a retired conveyancing solicitor I believe the information given in the post to be useful assuming any properties concerned are in England/Wales but I accept no liability for it.0 -
We completed on a Wednesday in November. It was cheaper for removals and we then had a couple of days + the weekend to get everything unpacked.Mortgage free wannabeMortgage (November 2010) £135,850Mortgage (November 2020) £4,7840

That can be a consideration. Removal firms tend to have Fridays booked up further in advance than other days because so many people want to move then.0 -
If your online solictor is slow it maybe worth considering a earlier day of the week anyway.
Remember if the funds are not sent in time on a friday then you may have to wait until monday for the transaction to clear - which means you don't get the keys until it's cleared.0 -
We completed last Tuesday so nope :-) good luck0

It is far easier to complete on any week day other than Friday!0

We exchanged today at last and as I wanted time to book removals, arrange meter readings and time to run round panicking we have delayed the completion date originally this Friday to the following Thursday...phew such a relief to have one last weekend to pack!

Friday is the busiest day for removals0

We completed on a Friday. It helps a little if you don't want to take a few days off work as you get the weekend to stand in your new home and stress about all the things that need to be done to it to get it exactly how you want it. LOL.Everyone is entitled to my opinion!0
