3 months to DFD - is this the hardest part?

  • I went the other way. With 3 months to go I just suddenly couldn't stand it anymore. I raided my hard-saved emergency fund and paid the last 3 debts off one Saturday afternoon. I rationalised that within 3 months I'd have built it back up again, and I have. (To be fair tho' I did have access to a £5K overdraft (as a result of the new, improved me!) should a major problem have struck).

But I'd rather eat the dog's food than use credit ever, ever again, including my o/d!

You are so nearly there - sometimes the slog does get you down, but really, really not long to go now - and then it's yours all yours.

    Well done

Don't know that I'd rather eat dog food  - although some people manage to eat kebabs on the way home on a Friday night and I suppose that's much the same ............. :D

Seriously though, I would rather have bowel surgery in the woods with a stick than use credit again - I hate it so much.

My wee emergency fund wouldn't clear what I owe but very soon I won't owe anything and my wee emergency fund will be a wee bit bigger than wee! :D

Well done you and cheers for more happy thoughts.

  • Well done on getting this far, I hope sweet success comes very soon for you. I can't believe I'm nearly a year in, I have what seems like 3 long more years to go but at least most things are heading in the right direction. Posts like yours keep me going so thank you.

Thanks for that and good luck for your future. It really does go quicker than you think it will - hard to appreciate that sometimes during the slog - but very soon you'll wonder where it has all gone!

If you remember looking back to the dark days when your debt was at it's greatest, down that long, dark tunnel you may remember catching a glimpse of a very small white dot in the distance well, that was YOUR light at the end of YOUR tunnel. Now, over time that dot has gradually got bigger, brighter & closer as you slowly but surely began to erase the debt, that dot has now turned into a huge white hole that in a very short space of time will engulf you completely & a huge weight will lift on the day your final payment is made, you may even shed a tear :D The future is bright, the future is white.

:D I might very well shed a tear. The future is indeed white for me and I won't be going into that tunnel again.

Love the happy thoughts - they all really help :T
