"Jobs" for bridesmaids on the day

My wedding is in 4 months time and I have not asked my 4 bridesmaids to do anything so far except try their dresses on. On the day I would like them to help out so am trying to think of tasks I can assign them individually. So far I have thought of:

MOH:
- Help out when hair/makeup team arrive - organising girls etc. to take the stress off me.
- Hold bouquet during vows
- Assist organising people for our list of 'posed' photos

3 other bridesmaids:

- Make sure everyone signs the guestbook
- Hand out photo upload cards to the evening guests (am putting them with favours for day guests)
- Take pictures of evening guests (tog is only here for the day)

Can you think of anything else I could ask them to do? (BTW Best man is going to take care of guests seating during ceremony and paying a supplier that wants the balance on the day.)

not strictly something for the day but
Attending the wedding rehearsal and make sure you know where you need to be and what you need to be doing at all times.

if its a church wedding they will need to know in what order they walk back down the aisle...usually pairing with best man or ushers behind bridal party
frugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!

    2017 toiletries challenge 179 out 145 in ...£18.64 spend

It's a civil wedding and as far as I know there's no rehearsal, we have a meeting with the venue 6 weeks before to sort out the finer details.

you could ask one of them to prepare and carry a small emergency kit for you
    Tights
    Tissues
    Baby wipes
    Breath mints
    Safety pins
    Comb/brush
    Lipstick
    plasters
    Nail file
    Hairgrips
    Hair spray
    pen
anything else you or another guest may need

Someone could also be allocated taking any presents from guests and putting them on a present table

Also are you wearing your engagement ring on your wedding finger before the ceremony ..if not and you didnt want to wear it on the other hand your MOH could wear it for you until you have your wedding ring on and then return it so you can wear them together

If the ceremony and reception are all at one venue, the guests will put their presents on the table before the ceremony and so the BMs won't have a chance to do this. Better to assign this one to the groomsmen....

The main job for my BMs on the day was keeping me relaxed on the morning while we got ready and making it lots of fun. :D

They also checked my train was straight before we walked down the aisle, took my flowers during the ceremony and removed my veil and bustled my dress for the evening.

My only BM is my sister and her main job for the day is to keep me looking fabulous all day long!
saving up another deposit as we've lost all our equity.
We're 29% of the way there...

:eek::eek: My BM is my sister who turns 19 while we're away, and the best man is the groom's dad who turns 67 while we're away!!:eek::eek:

It's a good job you aren't the OP then
  • When I was my sister's bridesmaid, my main jobs were fixing her train/hair etc for the photos, holding her bouquet, being able to provide emergency items (plasters, earring backs, Rescue Remedy, painkillers etc) to her or guests at a moment's notice and minding the younger members of the bridal party.

We provided some balloons for the kids to play with during the reception. One of my bridesmaids thoughtfully took on the task of "protecting" the cake!
Also one of my bridesmaids stayed with me the night before and kept my mind occupied with a good chin-wag. It was great as she lives abroad and I'd not seen her for months so we caught up. She's also already married so was able to give me loads of good advice.
The hen party! Your Bridesmaids might enjoy organising this for you if you haven't already sorted something.
Their actual job description was "Look Gorgeous, look out for things that need doing and get others to do them" :-)
