Cannot pay for Ebay items....payment page hanging - please help!

Hi all,
Just wondered if anyone had any techie style advice to help with this. Basically for the past 3 days every time i've tried to pay for an item the page will not load through to the paypal login so i can pay. It just stays loading for over an hour then fails.
I have also tried paying directly via Paypal (i know you forfit the protection here but i'm just desperate to get this payment sent) but that doesn't work either, it cannot find any 'won' items. I'm getting very confused!
I initially thought maybe the servers were overloaded but surely that can't have been the case for the whole 3 days - i'm sure others would have brought it to light sooner.
Please can anyone help?
