Advice on getting a bus stop moved
Options
Just to be clear, the bus stop I am concerned about it not in front of my house - it's not even in the same street. It is, however, one I have to use every day and I feel that its placement is inappropriate.
I would probably cite safety as the reason for wanting to have it moved: at present there are two bus stops with buses going in similar directions. The first stop is very near the tube station that many passengers will have just emerged from. It is in a 'safer' area and is generally busier.
The second stop (the one I have to use to get home) is a fair walk from the tube and I often find myself having to run to catch the bus which is annoying in itself. However it is also in a more isolated spot, tends to have a lot of drug addicts and other scary-looking people hanging around and is so far removed from the other stop and tube that I feel like a second-class citizen having to use it. It makes no sense as there is space for a second bus stop alongside the other stop and it would also mean less of a walk/run from the tube.
It would really improve my life if they would just put it next to the other stop and I cannot be the only one feeling this way.
Who do I write to and what should I say?

Bus stops are sited by agreement with the bus co and the LA. I think also, they have to be approved by VOSA. Your first port of call would be to the bus co. I would contact them by phone indentifying the stop and see what they say.PLEASE NOTEMy advice should be used as guidance only. You should always obtain face to face professional advice before taking any action.0

You can't do anything without a way to substantiate your claims.... And you'll need more people behind/with you.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

That's OK Strider, I'm involved with a couple of local residents' groups. Not quite stupid enough to think a one woman campaign would get me anywhere on this one!0

As you mention tube then it is obviously in London, therefore you need to contact Transport for London who oversea all public transport.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.

Depends whether your a local councillor or not, you could get your own private busstop 2 yds away from your home and special traffic islands and bus lanes just to make your journey easier
Maybe get one on side?“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Be as cynical as you like Strider, but in my experience the best way not to get anything changed or improved is not to bother asking...0 -
^^ There's a subtle difference between cynicism and optimistic realism
I think you should do all you can, it sounds like a dodgy situation and I certainly wouldn't be happy about it (from your description).
Think I can get a train station moved for similar reasons? + strange old men emptying their nasal cavities onto the floor and asking for 50p to get a train home?“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

If it's a fair walk from the tube maybe ask if they could add a stop instead of moving it. That way they've still got the original bus-stop (the druggies & scary looking people might need the bus too) but there will also be a stop outside the tube. The powers that be may be more inclined to add a new stop rather than move the original one, depending on the distance.Dum Spiro Spero0
