Credit card insurance

I’ve just read some terms and conditions of a credit card I’ve got and it says that I’m insured for all purchases on the card against theft or damage for 90 days and if a shop won’t accept an eligible return within 90 days. This does not cover the theft of electrical items.
Is this insurance standard for most credit cards? And why do they exclude electrical items? If they’re going to exclude the highest risk items, what’s the point of offering the insurance at all?
