Height restrictions at Chessington W of A

Went to chessington yesterday (with merlin passes from clubcard points) and found out they have incresed the height restriction to my daughters favorite ride Dragon falls.... she will have to wait maybee 2 yrs until she can ride it again.

Staff were vauge about the reason behind it...said i might be insurance purposes or somthing - but when asked said it was deffentley not to do with reducing the queue times......but the queue time was down to only about 10 minutes usally an hour +

They have also introduced fast track entrances to the kids rides..... I just makes me angrey that money talks.... we queued up for an hour (me and my twins) to going on one car ride.... 6 cars 2 were for fast track 1 or 2 for disabled (lots in the park -I have no problem with genuine need) took Forever were saw the same spoilt brats go on again and again in front of us as daddy just bought them another ticket while he fiddles with his i-phone

And queue jumping was proliffic - after i had asked the staff what they would do - 4 adults and 3 kids barged passed us and that not including the amount that was passed over the fences.... I did try to stop a couple but their language and hanging on to my twins made this impossiable

and they want to charge £2 to park - car suspension was well tested on the bumpy roads

It will be a while before we go again.... but hey it s free local day out :T

I read somewhere that the increase in height restriction is a manufacturers recommendation and is about the evacuation procedure, not the actual ride itself. Even so, it appears very draconian. My little one also couldn't go on it due to discrepancies with the height of their measuring sticks, but got on Dragons Fury and Monkey Swinger which are the same height without a problem.

I also read somewhere that Merlin were clamping down on disability passes as the definition of 'disability' has broadened so much over the last few years. It is now supposed to be specifically in relation to not being able to queue.

£2 to park is a con, but if you're lucky you can drive in through the bus entrance and park free - don't tell anyone!!!

Chessington always appears too full to us. We much prefer Thorpe and whilst there are not as many kids rides, the queues for the ones that are there never seem as long.

WE live a little closer to Thorpe park but my twins are 2 and they have taken octopus garden (the bit with ALL their kids rides in) out now so twins can only go on carosell and the train..The older chap who 'drives' the train is fantastic!! I also found that as Thorpe park is aimed at older people a lot of people wander round with cig's on the go and they tend to be at eye level with the twins in the buggy :(

I guess if we want a 'free' day out we will have to put up with the 'public' on mass ;)

I was just furious at the queue jumping and the staff in ability to do somthing about it!
