Another Issue !! Cycle problem this time

Have recently taken ownership of a £1000 bike which had been reduced in the sale to £849.

The cycle was ordered in and had been there for around a week before I went in to collect.

The day before I collected I was told it was not built but would be ready in the morning.

So I went in the morning to collect only to be told that my "new" bike had a 1/2" scratch to the paintwork which had gone right down to the metal/ali.

Naturally I was disappointed so I started to ask if they could get me another however I was told that there were none available nationwide.

So I accepted it on the basis that I have something knocked off.

I had around £40 worth of freebies as a result of this.

After getting the cycle home I found two more parts of the cycle where there was damage and also that there are cycles in stock in other store.

Have sent an email to customer services to see where we go from as after spending a grand in total with them im not too pleased to say the least !!

I am starting to wonder if I should of had more then £40 worth of freebies !

What you should HAVE done was inspect the bike properly before leaving with it.

I'd say that £40 was about right.

Granted that - however do you honestly expect a brand new cycle to be damaged, I only accepted the cycle as I was told that there were no more in the country which turned out to be false

No - and you should have rejected it if you were not happy.

No - you accepted it because it was £151 cheaper in the sales AND they offered £40 worth of "Freebies" as compensation for the damage.

As stated above, given that damage was already reported to you, you should have checked for further damage BEFORE accepting it.

The problem for you now may be proving that the extra damage was not caused by you. It will be your word against theirs.

I think all you can hope for now is goodwill on the part of the shop.
