Value of Jewellery

My Contents Insurance is up for renewal. I usually only carry out a quick assessment of the value of my contents but this year I thought I would do a more thorough check. One thing I am stuck on is the current value of various pieces of jewellery which I bought my wife around 1995. I have the receipts and in total it was just over £5000. I have checked jewellers websites but cannot find anything like it. An inflation calculator on the internet puts the value at £7300 but I wonder whether this is representative of increases in jewellery costs. Can anyone help as to what it is likely to be worth now.

I would have them professionally valued if you've had them over fifteen years. Get large photographs taken and store them safely with the valuations.

One thing to look our for with valuations is make sure you use somebody who charges a fixed fee rather than a percentage of the valuation.
