Change of passenger names on flights-help! !

Can anyone help? I've booked a holiday for 4 people to New York through Expedia with KLM flights, and 1 of us now can't go. Is there no way of just changing passengers names without full cancellation and re-booking at massive expense ? The seat is all booked and paid for - why is this not a simple process of changing the personal details? Will my travel insurance be any good to claim back, or my credit card that I paid it with ?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Why can the person not travel? You will only be able to claim on your insurance if it is an insurable reason, such as severe illness.
The likelihood of you being able to change the name on the ticket is very low. However, it will depend on the type of ticket purchased, and you will need to check this with Expedia or KLM.Gone ... or have I?0 -
Does your travel insurance cover the other person that has had to drop out? Agree that whether insurance will cover or not will depend on why (deciding not to go won't be a good enought reason) but may be their travel insurance rather than yours?
Your credit card will definately not be a source of a refund - on what basis would they have been?Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
If you have bought a non-flexible ticket (the most common type), the you may be out of luck. Airlines / agents usually don't allow name changes to prevent travel agents buying up the cheaper fares to resell.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. you should however be able to get a refund of the flight taxes less an admin fee, the person that backed out, if not covered by travel insurance, should be the one losing their cash not you0
