Halifax keep offering me credit cards!!!!

When you log onto Halifax online banking you often get an advert for a loan which I usually ignore and carry on banking.

The other week they offered a Clarity card - Guaranteed acceptance!

I applied as I am going abroad and its a good crad for foriegn use. I was immediatly accepted.

2 days later I logged and and got offered (Guaranteed again!) a credit card with 12 months 0% interest on purchases. As my current 0% cards were reaching the end of thier deals this was even more attractive than the Clarity card. So I applied. There was no immediate acceptance this time and as suspected a week or so later I had a letter saying that they wouldn't give me one.

I wrote to Halifax explaining that I would have preferred the 2nd card and could I close the unused Clarity card and have this one instead but they ignored that part of my request and just blurbed on about not changing thier decision.

To my suprise the same day as I recived this reply when I logged online I had another offer - another card, this time 15 months 0%.

Well it only takes a minute to apply so for a laugh I did!

You would have thought they could target their advertising a little more logically!

Yes, I keep getting Halifax credit-card, guaranteed-acceptance offers when I log in. What credit crunch?

You could just cancel the Clarity card, wait a week or two then apply for the other card.

Why not take them up on it, then it will be another card for your collection..

you might want to keep tabs on your credit report because those applications may be leaving footprints...
  • The reason why they wouldnt give you the 2nd card is because you cannot have both cards open at one time, I had the 2nd card over the last year and have just cancelled in favor of the clarity as I too am going away. Also, the reason you saw 15 months 0% is because your a halifax customer you get an extra 3 months 0% on top of the original 12 months.

    Hope this helps
