Paying off credit

We want to pay off our credit card, can we send a letter (and if so what needs to go in the letter do you have a draft letter?) and ask the credit card company to give us a final settlement, a reduction in the full balance and pay it off withing a set period of time? Without affecting our credit rating?
Thanks

No need to send any letter - just pay what is on your last statement.
If you do not pay in full they can put adverse information on your credit files such as partially settled instead of settled. You will find it difficult to get new credit with this on your files.0
