hi, i bought a laptop in september of last year from sony center in eldon square newcastle, anyway the laptop has a problem with the charge port so i had phoned sony vaio link (their cust serv) he had asked for my S/N number which i gave then he asked for my details then i ran into another problem, the laptop is apparently registered in someone else's name, they wont listen to a word i have to say because to them the laptop isnt mine.
so it sounds quite possible to me that ive been sold a second hand laptop (when i wanted a new one) from them and paid full price for what a new one would cost.
so what do i do here? any help is much appreciated.

no there is no serial number on the box, its only placed on the bottom of the laptop, and i forgot to mention that when i purchased it the box was already open but i just dismissed that because i thought they would have checked eveything was in the box before giving it to me but now i have a different point of view on that.0

oh and the reciept has the same number apart from 1 digit to many? and i phoned sony center and the lad on the phone had called vaio link but they wouldnt tell him who or when it was registered, and then he said you have definitly purchased it legally no one has owned the laptop before you which just sparks BS in my head.0

If you can, I'd take it back to the shop with the receipt and tell them to sort it out as their own customer services dept. are refusing to help you.
Might be worth phoning the shop first and politely but firmly make it clear to them you are unhappy with their service. Ask for the manager or contact details for his superior.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards.
