Credit Rating Problem

My daughter has had her bank account application turned down.
They said that her credit rating is fine but there is a problem with her financial associate(s). Having searched the internet for information about financial associates I am certain she doesn't have any. She doesn't have a credit/debit card either, which is essencial to get the information on her credit file.

Can anyone suggest what I do next to solve this problem? Is there anyone I can phone?

She has just accepted a place at university and needs an account to arrange her student loan, time is of the essence!

No it isn't. She can write, enclosing a cheque/postal order.

Order her credit reports, which will show who confirmed the association and who it's with.

I would recommend your daughter gets her credit report from Experian, Equifax and Call Credit to see what information is contained in the report.

If there is anything incorrect your daughter can get it corrected afterwards by contacting the appropriate credit reference agency.

  • In the mean time, see if she can open a basic Bank account with the Co-op or Barclays, I doubt she'd have a problem getting one which would solve the problem while you investigate further.
