Oh wow!
It sounds really good. Think about it, would you regret it if you didn't do it?
How would you feel if they said to you, "sorry, your application has been cancelled"??
Do for it, you've nothing to loose.
Is it a legit job?
And will you be able to get a visa for 2 years+ ? Thank you to everyone!

Quoted this one but it's regarding school reviews etc. It's a partner school to a very well established independent school in the UK - (think 1500's). Very good reputation etc - in the same league as Eton. So they now have a partner school in Dubai.
They sort my Visa out for me - I just have to get my qualifications accredited.
It's not that I hate my job here - I love it! But I'm only supply. I have no permanent job and that is scary. I don't want to be 26/27/28 with no job, still living at home with my mum and dad :rotfl:

Apologies, I muddled your love of your job with another post which started with something like "I hate my job. It's !!!!!!."
Clearly that's not you!!!
KiKi' <-- See that? It's called an apostrophe. It does not mean "hey, look out, here comes an S".0 -
Go for it! You can come home once a year - and your parents/friends can always come over to see you!
If I were in your shoes, I know what I'd be doing. My daughter came home one day and told me that she ahd OH had a chance of 2 years in Singapore - and I told them "go". 17 years later, they've had a wonderful time - first Singapore, then Tokyo, then Hong Kong, now USA - and my OH and I have had some wonderful holidays too.
And even if you decide after 2 years that you don't want to do it any more, you'll have a prestigeous school to put on your CV. Of course, you may like it so much that you decide to keep on travelling.....just let us know
And well done - and good luck!0 -

Aww, OP I think you're rather confused at the moment. There must be parts you love (like the kids/teachers/friends) but things you hate too (work conditions etc)
Have you spoken about this to your parents? What have they said about it?
As you've said, you've no idea whats going to happen with this supply job, at least this job in Dubai (sp) is at least 2 years and when the 2 years are up, you'll have good skills and experience to land you a damn good job in the UK. OR, you might end up loving it so much that you want to stay out there
Good luck xxx:beer: Thank you to everyone!

Go for it, the things you don't do in life are the ones you regret.0

Thanks all, some really good posts to think about.
I think it's just the shock factor!

avoid drinks, snorting your wages, and getting suckered into stupid cars, and you could come back with a nice stash of cash.
however my friends who have worked in D have not managed to avoid the above and have come back in debt.
how's your self control? are you a comfort spender??Debt free 4th April 2007.
New house. Bigger mortgage. MFWB after I have my buffer cash in place.0 -
Good advice.
I disagree with this, though! There are culture shocks wherever you go. In my experience Dubai is safe, relatively 'western' and of all the places in the ME, I would say one of the easiest to make a transition to, especially if it's temporary. I wouldn't say it's any less of a culture shock than China or Singapore, certainly! I found Singapore incredibly difficult to be in.
But I guess everyone sees places differently, and what's difficult or a shock for some isn't for others.

If you let this opportunity go - would you ask yourself in years to come 'I wish I took that job'?
If you do take it and it doesn't work out then at least you gave it a chance - nothing ventured - nothing gained!
By the way, if you want someone to carry your suitcases, I am available at very short notice!0
