House contents can be very expensive to replace

This is a most unusual post in that you may end up paying more not less for your house contents insurance, but I'd prefer you to know about this. I took a rough guess at the value of my contents, then found http://www.hiscox.com/calculator/ which gives their valuation based on simple criteria. I think their value is over the top for us, but I had forgotten swathes of goods that I would have had to buy if the house had been burnt down. Finally, a helpful tip: on the web sites most insurers refuse to insure if you specify a high amount for contents, but Liverpool Victoria are providing us with more than enough cover. I have no connection, family or friends connection with Hiscox or Liverpool Victoria. Regards, Nigel.
