Strange problem

Running XP home and recent fault has occurred. Often the machine will not boot up. Same with safe mode.

After a number of attempts it has now booted up after running chkdsk.

Any ideas please or is there a utility that would tell me if any files are corrupted?

Many thanks.

When you say won't boot - can you get into the BIOS? Are there any sounds from the machine (BIOS beeps can tell a lot)?

You will probably need a repair / install disk.
  • Thanks. Have now done a fresh install. Wondering if my HD is faulty so running checks on it.
