LOL congrats on your new house and well done getting back on your feet :)

Have you tried your local freecycle,(www.freecyle.org) you will be amazed on how many people give these things away because they are getting a new kitchen or just fancy a newer model.

That way you won't need to find the money all at once to get your new things.

im completely gona be scrimping, just so glad i had my lightbulb moment in may this year. I even go shopping now and think, "na i cant be bothered" whereas before i def would have bought it

im gona register on that freecycle, looks ok. just remembered my mate has a fridge freezer and he is getting a new one and offered me his.

My nan is giving us some money for the deposit and first months rent so we can get a little furniture, but the more we save the better. we have decided best to clear my debts then we can get a mortgage, we are only 23 and 24 so have loads of time.

when i say we it is me paying my debts, just my girlfirend earns more and its nice as shes saying its all our money for saving and food etc, she is brilliant, just glad im open with her

i know its only renting but means a lot to be just us, we are living at my parents at the minute which is a little cramped to say the least lol

Thanks for all your replies and the chance for me to rabbit on lol

https://www.dontdumpthat.com is similar to freecycle, not as popular so things don't usually get snapped up as quick when they are offered.
One day I might be more organised...........

that is true, especially as the landlady is only a few years older than me (I think daddy bought her the house) and she wants to let it out long term and we can have the rabbits there lol

    thanks for all your help
  • i get loads of emails from freecycle, you have to reply REALLY quick as things get snapped up.

    Good luck biglad :D

hey biglad and congrats on the new house. i'll never forget the feeling i had when i first got my own place.

best piece of advice i can give you is think on what you really need to get settled int eh house then buy the other things as and when you can afford them. when i moved in all i had was a bed, chest of drawers, futon (used as a sofa) and a set of shelves. so long as you have someplace to sleep, sit and somethign to provide you with food you are sorted, the rest can wait! but i do know how hard it is to not go nuts, thats why i'm here now!
