in Credit cards
Hi,
Is there such a card that provide on 0% balance transfers for say 6 months (obviously with the usual initial transfer fee) as well as a 0% on Spending for a set period? So far I have only seen these two as separate cards
I have an outstanding balance on my 0% card that is due in May that I can pay off, but would rather keep a portion of it so I have more money for my holiday
Also, if I were to buy some currency and purchase it on a 0% credit card, would it still fall under the 0% on purchases as technically it is purchase but also it could be classed as a cash withdrawal

NatWest have 13 months on both, but you must hold a current account with them. Barclaycard do a 12/12 standalone product.Lost_Prophet wrote: »Is there such a card that provide on 0% balance transfers for say 6 months (obviously with the usual initial transfer fee) as well as a 0% on Spending for a set period? Usually no, but there are 2 notable exceptions...Tesco and M&S. However, there are are T&Cs attached...ie you must buy from their own bureaux de change. Also, if I were to buy some currency and purchase it on a 0% credit card, would it still fall under the 0% on purchases0 -
OK, so I can get the foreign currency from M&S if I have an M&S credit card (I already own the Tesco one which I will close once the balance is paid off in May).
Next question.... what about cashback? I have noticed on my bank statement it sometimes comes up as say £40 cashback then a separate transact for say £5.64 for the items purchased. Will cashback be classed as a 0% Purchase or is it classed as a cash withdrawal?
Basically, I am considering one of the following options:
- Take out a 0% 15 month on purchases credit card with M&S and do ALL my spending on it for the next three months (incl foreign currency). Then I would bank the money that I would of spent or just let it run its course paying it off every month for 15 months, or
- Take out a 0% 12 month on purchases credit card with 0% 12 month on balance transfers. Take the hit of £15 and do a balance transfer of £500 over from my existing credit card.
Either way, it should see me with £500 extra in my account for my holiday and 12 months to pay it off in (easily done!)
Final option:
- My mum said she will lend me the £500 and wipe my credit card clear, but I obviously have to pay it back. Either way, I will get one of the credit cards and 'Stooge' on it at a low level0 -
*Bump
Can anyone suggest anything on this please?0 -
If it's on your bank statement presumably the cashback was from a debit card transaction. In theory you shouldn't be able to get cashback from a credit card transaction.Lost_Prophet wrote: »Next question.... what about cashback? Tesco have a credit card with 0% on Balance Transfers for 9 months (2.9% fee) and 0% on purchases for 13 months."The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money"0
