What a strange thing to say!

My understanding of 'inherant', is a design that doesn't work reliably, and is prone to failure.
That makes a thermostat or timer that doesn't work, a 'fault' since they both work on other machines from this manufacturer.
Otherwise lots of people would have a non working thermostat / timer.

Why was my remark "a strange thing to say"?

I think you'd have a hard time proving anything without a report as there are so many variables, how much washing is in there? Is it overloaded? Is there too little in there? What material is in there? What were the care instructions on the items that shrunk? What temperature did you wash those items? etc etc

Your understanding of an inherent fault is not quite accurate.

Q1. What is an inherent fault?

A fault present at the time of purchase. Examples are:
    • an error in design so that a product is manufactured incorrectly
    • an error in manufacturing where a faulty component was inserted.

The "fault" may not become apparent immediately but it was there at the time of sale and so the product was not of satisfactory standard.

The load size doesnt make any difference; the dryer simply seems to dry the load on full heat.

I know i should have dealt with it before, i'm not doubting that. However i do want to deal with it now as best as possible.
