Already got Flash installed but BBC i Player still insists you install it?

Internet Explorer 9's Safety Menu has 'Active X Filtering'. Accidently I selected this and this led to the BBC i Player putting up the 'Install Flash Player' message.

Today I have been caught in a loop for 5 hrs + going round and round the 'uninstall/re-install route/reboot' route before I found an article that eventually got me through the Windows System to the Macromedia file (? old Adobe name) and I could see what was there. When I saw there was an Active X ... file it rang bells that I felt sure I had seen these words elsewhere.

Hope this helps someone as my frustration level was very high.
