Lloyds Bank account from 1978

I have just found a bank book from 1978 and wondered if it was still a valid account?
My mum opened the account in 1978 with £2, for me as I was 4 at the time. Nothing has gone in or out since
and she died in 2005. It was opened at Lloyds Bank and I have found the book, kept with some photographs that I have just been sorting out.
My question is - it this account still a valid one? Is it worth approaching our branch of Lloyds TSB now?

Economy; careful management; providence. Whether you call it thrifty or frugality it all comes down to getting more for your money.

Those passbook accounts paid a notoriously bad rate of interest: something like 0.1 - 0.5 percent.
Although a third of a century has passed, don’t expect there is a fortune waiting for you -
more likely £ 2.50 or 3 quid at the most.
You might just want to keep the book as a memory.0 -
Thats what I thought. I knew that it wouldn't have much in it even if it hasn't been touched in 32 years lol. But it would be nice to know if the account was still a valid one.Donna

Probably not by now - would have been dormant for donkeys years and then swept up to the Head office unclaimed accounts.
Go to the BBA site about lost bank accounts - download the form and send it off to see - you don't have to declare that you still have the book so you can keep that as a momento.0 -
This should help:
