Thats a wise bit of advice you've glossed over there!
There is nothing more motivational than a target to aim for!
Waiting for a lottery win means misery.
Well done!! (What's the next target? 15k? 10k?)0 -
Well done, an inspiration to us all0

Well done to everyone!
I've managed to drop quite a long way below 20k - started 3 years ago with 27k and now down to 13k so hopefully will be debt free in just less than 2 years. Originally it was estimated it would take me 9 years so I'm pleased that my hard work of throwing money at my debts has paid off. If I have my way I intend to be debt free a lot sooner than 2 years.
It's been a hard slog but worth it and has taught me valuable lessons - that I don't need credit and if I don't have the money, then I can't spend it and only spend money on the things I need and not want. Most of all, it's lovely seeing my bank account in credit just before payday even if it is only by a few quid.
Hopefully when I'm debt free, I shall be able to save the money I was paying into my dmp and build myself a nice little amount quite quickly so I won't need credit.Debt 30k in 2008.:o Cleared all my debt in 2013 and loving being debt free

That is, for me, THE biggest bonus. Makes me literally grin at my online banking! It pleases me immensely that Lloyds don't get a penny of interest or charges from me anymore, after making a hellish few years (financially and otherwise) even worse. Cancelling my overdraft facility has been the best financial decision I ever made, even better than cancelling the credit cards!DEBT FREE 3rd Sept 2011
