Help with part exchange

This is my first post on here, I have been reading for awhile but have never posted.
I was wondering if anybody had any advice. I am part exchanging my property for a new build with Taylor Wimpey and are due to complete on Friday 1st. A requirement of completion was to have a gas safety certificate. This is where the bad news starts, the house failed! The boiler is an old back boiler and the gas man said it may be able to be fixed but he is not sure as it is in a bad way. He thinks that the best option is to put a new combi boiler in. This is going to delay completion. We are waiting to hear from taylor wimpey about what they want us to do. Any advice would be welcome
thanks

Get the gas feed to the boiler capped off and have the gas recertified? Unless the you are bound to deliver a working CH system.
Not enough info otherwise - what exactly has failed?Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
Thanks for your reply, the boiler has about had it and the gas pipe needs earthing and clipping. Not sure they would except the house with out a central heating system they are going to contact us tomorrow when the managers are in the office.0

Earthing the gas pipe is sort of £50 or £100 ish, too little to worry about.
The boiler having 'had it' of itself is NOT an adequate reason for a gas safety failure. There has to be an objective reason. I fear that the gas tester is taking you for a ride in the hope of a fat commission at your expense.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature.
