car insurance - no fault increase?

hi,
i'm new to this site but would just like to ask for some information/advice if i may?
i have been driving 23years, i am female and i'm 42yrs old. 3 years ago i went through a speed camera at 34mpg in a 30 mpg zone and had 3 points plus a £60 fine. this was my first ever conviction in 20 years of driving. it did'nt seem to affect my car insurance much fortunately. unfortunately i didn't have protected no claims.
2 years ago, i reversed into a car in a car park. my insurance went up as a result and i found my premium for fully comp was around the £450 mark, but my insurers still gave me 4yrs no claims bonus? my last insurance was still around this figure.
3 weeks ago, my car was parked when someone reversed into me. the car was unattended and stationary and luckily the driver had a concience and left his details.
the insurance is now sorted, he admitted full liabilty, my car was wriiten off.
i now have a car of similar value, similar tax band etc, but my current insurer says i have only 2yrs no claims bonus because of the accident where i admitted liability.
i searched online and i now have quotes of between £650 + going into the £1000's!
so, what i really want to know is, my current insurer last year quoted me around £450, now they've quoted £1200 ! and the only change has been a no fault on my part accident, so if it wasn't my fault, why the massive increase?
comparison websites are £300+ more than my previous £450 if i don't mention the no fault claim, and if i do put in my no fault claim, they are averaging another £100 on top of that !
so what i really want to know is:
1. is this insurance hike a result of the no cheap insurance for women drivers?
2. how can the insurers quote me higher than last year on the basis of i've made a claim when i was at no way at fault?
3. how come i had an accident 3yrs ago yet was still awarded 4 yrs no claims which my current insurer accepted, now they only give me 2?
any help/advice would be greatly appreciated!
cheers

1. No. Nothing to do with this. That change is yet to come.
2. & 3. Insurers can charge you precisely what they like. It sounds more like your current claim is pending until the insurer makes a full recovery from the third party insurers. My initial reaction is that you've been talking to someone who doesn't know what they're talking about, or you've misinterpreted what they've said.
Your premium is higher because your ncd had been lost - probably temporarily. Also, insurance premiums in general have increased. It's been on the news. Your claims experience is a large part of the insurance market's risk assessment of you. Apparently, when a person makes a claim - fault or non-fault - there is a statistical likelihood of that person making another claim. Your claims record backs this theory up. This, and your points, probably isn't helping.
Sorry.
On the plus side, if the recent claim is settled in your favour, you'll get a refund.0 -
hi Quote,
thank you for your reply. i was expecting my insurance to go up due to the points and my accident obviously but certainly didn't think it would go up if someone hit me.
it still doesn't seem fair, but if all insurance companies do this then theres nothing i can do about it.
cheers
