having received a letter from ntl advising me i am now going to have just one bill for the differant services i have with them, for which they will take payment from my existing direct debit. i rang to ask which one as two go out of my account. they informed me i only have one but on their closer inspection then said the second is for dial up which i terminated in nov 03! when i asked for my money back (36 payments of 14.99) they informed me as a goodwill gesture they would refund me 6months worth. after discussion they increased this to 12 months. needless to say i am not happy. i did query my statements a couple of times but then assumed they must be right, but they have no record of these calls. is there anything else i can do, after all it's a lot of money?

Welcome to the MSE forums aquestion.
I have to say that I had great trouble dredging up any sympathy for your cause when I read that you've been paying £14.99/month for a service you haven't used for 3 years (a total of £539.64). Perhaps that's just because I'd have noticed almost immediately though.
However, as the 'other side' is NTL and as they appear to want to play games by offering to credit only a third of that, have you considered the possibility of initiating Small Claims Court proceedings?
http://www.hmcourts-service.gov.uk/infoabout/claims/index.htmTime has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0
