Yeah agree with LennyMFO....check your terms and conditions with Bains & Ernst and ditch them BUT do speak to CCCS/Payplan/Citizens Advice as soon as they are next open!

post a full statement of affairs. (SoA)...until we see that its impossible to give good advice
see for more details of SoAs

do say how much the house is worth and how much the mortgage.

ditch your debt management company...they clearly are giving you bad advice and not acting in your best interest
    instead contact Payplan or CCCS

whether bankruptcy/IVA /Debt management solution is best for you depends upon your SOA so do post that as soon as you're ready.

unless you are working in financial services or a few other restricted jobs being on an IVA or bankruptcy do not affect whether you can get a job.... your employer doesn't need to know and most wouldn't care...they employ you to do a job.

  • Hello -- Evening
I have been through alot recently as well - bout £21,000 of debt - I am sorting it but the pressure wil not be gone until Its ALL paid off ---- whether that be settlement or low monthly payments. I nearly lost my house. I have a 4 yr old & know what the pressures can be!.
how much equity do you have in your property? how much is your mortgage standing at at the moment & how much is your property worth? are you in arrears - people can still help if you are - I see it all the time - if you are willing to tighten your belt for 6/12 months & change lenders you may be able to save your roof. you say you have two regular incomes into the house hold. I know of a firm which may be able to help you - if interested please reply on this thread.

I am really angry that Bainst & Ernst are scaring you like this. They have NO RIGHT TO TREAT YOU THIS WAY:mad:  . Remember with fee taking companies, it is in their interest to hold onto for as long as possible, because then they get more fees. It also means that your debt free date is further into the future.

Please post up an Statement of Affairs as others have suggested, and please phone Payplan or CCCS on Monday. They will not only tell you what is the best way forward, but also how to ditch B&E.

Now before you think that there is nothing you can do until Monday, then here are some suggestions for a to do list for tomorrow!:D

    1) Using the links listed above have a look at Payplan and CCCS websites, to see which one might suit you better (remember they are both free and offer the same service, but their style is different)
    2) Find all of your creditor paperwork and sort it out into piles for each debt. Open any mail that 'has been put in a drawer' I am sure you know what you really owe, but if you do decide to either do a Statement of Affairs on here, or phone one of the above, then you will need to have an up date of your financial position anyway.
    3) Both of you register with https://www.quidco.com and https://www.pigsback.com. These are sites which offer you cash back or points when you use them to buy things you were going to buy anyway - eg insurances. Quidco in particular give you money just for clicking onto sites, it works out at 38p per day per person. But this is £138 per year per person for a few clicks!
    4) use the link on here somewhere to go to uswitch.com and check that all of your utilities, insurances (building contents and car), broadband etc are with the cheapest suppliers. Any that are not switch via quidco/pigsback (whichever has the better deal) and get cash back for switching, we are talking maybe £50 a time!
    5) BE RUTHLESS Anything that you and OH haven't used or worn in the last 6 months, needs to be put on ebay/amazon etc to raise some money for you. Tomorrow is supposed to be a sunny day:rotfl: , good for taking photos for listings.
    6) Do you have bank/ credit card charges for going over limits, etc? If so have a look at https://www.consumeractiongroup.com, for information about how to claim back bank charges. Every little helps to pay of your debt.

Sorry this is a bit long, but I feel if you can do some of this, it might stem the panic and make you feel like you are more in control.

    The very best of luck

I want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?
  • Right Craig earns approx £220 per week at the moment as he is sorting out his tax he's BR at the moment so normally it would be about £300 i earn £30 per week cleaning while William is in nursary in the morning i also get £65 per week child tax and £39 give or take penny's family allowance. I am expecting a big fat cheque from the inland rev for craigs tax, I'm trying to get a full time job at them moment as william goes into full time school september and i have a friend who will look after him for free for a while.

right thats income sorted. Other than the outgoings i have already mentioned i have :

    Credit Solutions - £966
    Bristow & Sutor - £906.35 BALIFFS
    Greenwoods personal credit - £1240
Abbey Group (fuel card from business) - £585

B & E have told me to stop paying all of these companies and they are in discussion with they as we speak, as for APR's n that i dont know as you can see above most of them are debt recovery agents i must be involved with nearly all of them in the UK by now.
I know of about another 3 companies besides the above Yell.com is about £600 thats top heavy and the other 2 are i think a home course in Accounts i was doing and somthing else can't think at the minute. I also have corporation tax and VAT which i have sent letters to, they are de-registration and asking for a break down of how to work out corporation tax as i cant afford an accountant at the minute.

So far the balance is £15,690
