Stuck on splash screen Toshiba nb200

Toshiba NB 200

15 months old

Working fine until this afternoon when it wouldn't go past the splash screen. It says to press f2 or f12 but it won't do either.

I've tried holding down 0 when switching it on as suggested elsewhere.

I'm not terribly techie and a bit scared of breaking it so can anyone help me with what to do?

Thank you

when you hold down F2 F12,do you need to hold down an F function key too?
IIRC on my Dell I need to hold the FN key plus the F2/12 or whatever

I've tried it with and without the fn keys and still nothing.

Interesting update though: it came on fine today but when I updated it and did the obligatory restart it took me back to square one

There are a lot of Toshiba owners having the same issue it seems
