HFO

Options
My son is also being harassed by HFO. Each time they call I tell them he is not here and ask them to put any issues in writing. I also tell them about recording the call and reporting them for harassment. Today they tried a different tactic.

After I informed Nick from HFO my son was not here, he started to ask questions about me. He knew both my name and the name of the Limited Company business I run from my home (even though it has a different phone number from the one they called). As far as I am concerned, the only reason he did this was to try to frighten me into thinking my business would be affected by my son. He then had the cheek to ask me if I knew what sort of character my son was! Needless to say, I let them know my feelings on this matter before politely putting the phone down.

HFO's tactics are appalling but now they have brought my company into the mix it is a whole different kettle of fish! Game on!

Of course, you just told him that your son was sufficiently strong minded not to pay money to some spiv who cannot/will not prove that the money is owed?

Make sure you make your complaints to the OFT via the consumer direct website, send it to James Waldron who will particulary interested in HFO complaints

Agree with that. Just as an aside - more for familiarity on what kind of company it is more than anything else - might be worth googling HFO Services/HFO Capital.

What you'll find is some very dubious legality in respect to their debt assignments. It just helps to re-affirm that HFO's reputation is a very shady one.

With luck, the OFT may be inclined to shut them down - if they ever pull their finger out.

Whilst it would be comforting to believe otherwise, I rather doubt that the largely ornamental Office of Faffing and Twaddling would do anything effective to curb such abuse; generally speaking, the OFT has something of a reputation for acting only slightly faster than an arthritic tortoise, doing the absolute minimum required and rarely - if ever - cancelling or rescinding a Consumer Credit Licence.

Still, it may be worth sending them a complaint.

    And also from Companies House.

    So what?

Does the availability of data somehow confer a right to attempt intimidation?
