Regular Savers

  • Yeh 20k, at £500 per month so 3 years to fill, remember it must NOT go over £20k so when it gets near £20k to withdraw.
Money is much more exciting than anything it buys.

Also, Chorley 7% Variable, and possibly Stroud & Swindon 7% Fixed (can only be opened at a branch - if indeed you can open one at all now?)

Leeds, Derbyshire and Cheshire's Regular Savers will leave you worse off than keeping the money in a Coventry First account, if my maths is correct.

Thanks for the info regards Chorley BS. I've got 3 Regular Savers maturing at the end of this month; namely Scarborough, NPBS and Bradford and Bingley (Christmas) Saver. This would have dropped me from 22 to 19 as B&B and NPBS don't have repeat offers.
Scarborough I will carry on with but Chorley hopefully will bring me back up to 21. Another 3 to find and I will have a very neat 2 per month as I have none starting in January and 1 in February.
Now if only Barclays will give me a Current Account.

    I'd back tom up here.

I don't personally follow whether Money£acts beats the providers themselves.

But I do know that Money£acts would be out of business if they provided out of date info.

To Shazkhan111 - It's a very good topic to raise, however, in the light of the BofE recent 0.25% raise :)

IIRC the fixed rate providers are:

    A&L 12% (c/a)
    Barclays 10% (c/a)
    Leek Utd BS 6.0%
    Lloyds 8.0% (c/a)
    Britannia 7.5%
    Halifax 7.0%
    Norwich & Peterborough BS 8.0% (c/a)
    Principality 6.5%

(c/a = current account needs to be opened first)

Variable rates before any possible increase are:

    Bath BS 6.0%
    HSBC 8.0% (c/a)
Ipswich BS 8.25% (why would a market leader need to increase its rate?)
    Scarborough BS 6.0%
    Yorkshire BS 6.5%

The interesting one re possible rate rises IMHO is YBS. That's a very good account already since you can still continue to earn capital on the first year's contributions after the initial 12 months :).

Just been on the phone to Scarborough BS re interest on my Regular Saver, £84.72 on £3250 (13 payments), just clarifying that everything just continues whereupon I was told that the rate will CHANGE on December 1st, (probably 6.5%), so money is definitely staying where it is.

Scarborough going up - great - thanks!
Indecision is the key to flexibility :)
  • Stroud & Swindon 7% fixed was withdrawn a while ago.
