Aquashield targetting OAPS....

Hello,
first time I have posted in this section so please be gentle with me!
Myself and my mum look after my lovely old nan. My mum looks after all her finances/banking etc and I do her shopping and cleaning for her. She is in very poor health.
My mum went on to her house on 2nd March and noticed a receipt from Aquashield. She looked at it and saw my nan had handed over £270 cash for them to carry out a job for roof repairs for a total of £2900:eek::eek: My nan owns her own home and has contents insurance for this type of thing.
Anyway turns out a door to door salesman had knocked at the door and said my nan's roof was leaking and needed to be fixed immediately. He took the cash and gave her the receipt, which had a date of 2nd Feb on it (mum went 2nd March remember).
My mum called the local branch, who gave her the head office number to cancel it and pointed out the error on the date and the fact the roof was fine. The lady at head office said there must have been a misunderstanding and promised to send a cheque out.
My nan still hasnt received it and my mum has made various calls to the local branch, to be met with someone who clearly lacks customer service skills. The head office number are now not taking calls and the website is down.
Can anyone help as to where we can from now to recover this money for my nan? or should we accept she won't get it back? I'm tempted to go down to the local branch myself!
(just want to add, my nan has a sticker in the window that says she doesnt want salesman and we're also not sure why she had that much cash on her anyway!)
thanks x

I would report to police and trading standards. The wrong date obviously looks like an attempt to prevent cancellation.0

Definitely contact Trading Standards - they are well aware of this company.
Good luck.0
