Hello...
My hubby and I are thinking about having a wedding blessing in 4 years time on our 10th Anniversary, we didnt have a big white wedding so would be lovely to do that..
However, not really sure on whats involved?!?!!? Is it like a proper wedding or not really??
Thanks for your help

I think you can make it what you want it to be, however if I were you I'd get in touch with the church you might want to use and ask. I'm sure the Church of England has a set form of words they use, they seem to for most occasions.
But what is it you feel was missing 6 years ago? I didn't have a meringue dress, or bridesmaids or page boys or flower girls or a bouquet, and DH didn't have a Best Man (he reckoned if he couldn't get himself and the ring to the church it was a pretty poor show!). However it was a fully proper wedding and I have no regrets.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Yeah I think I will contact a hotel or something and do it there, I want to do it as low cost as possible..
I loved our wedding day, but there was only 6 people there as I was 8 months pregnant so I would love to do something extra special.. I don't regret a thing and wouldn't change it for the world, I just wasn't sure about having a full on blessing or a party?? Something low cost but lovely to celebrate our 10years of marraige

A wedding blessing is usually the religious bits of a ceremony without the legal bits and can be with all the stuff like big white wedding dresses, bridesmaids etc. - but this would usually be if it is held close to the legal ceremony.
A marriage blessing can be held whenever you want, usually without the dress, bridesgroom & bridesmaids. So do you want to celebrate your marriage in front of friends and family and ask for God's blessing on it or do you want a party?loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.0 -
Ohhh ok I see the difference now, thank you so much for that.. Will have to look into things more, thank you

If you have any faith, see your vicar/minister/whatever and ask about the possibility of renewing your wedding vows? Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x0

The only people I've ever known to renew their vows broke up shortly afterwards. I think it's a bit naff to be honest."If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0

I think the same could be said for a lot of couples getting married after a very long relationship in any case. Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x0

When I have done this (as a C of E priest) I haven't charged, although if an organist is used the couple needs to pay the fee, probably around £50 and also for any special flowers etc. I have suggested a donation might be nice, and have also put a plate on the side just in case anyone feels like giving anything. As it isn't the actual wedding there are no statutory fees, so it is up to the practice of the church involved. As far as what happens there is a standard set service which can be very flexible, because there is nothing legal happening which requires set text. Blessing means that you are involving God, so it would normally be in a church, and you can be as simple or frilly as yoo like, just as at any wedding0
