finding a will

my mother made a will and lodged it will a solicitor. she passed away recently and i have no idea which solicitor to contact.

does anyone know how i can do this? is it done by the probate office as people without families/friends must die all the time but a will must be found.

any advice pse

I thought there was a database/register of wills as I made one recently and we were asked if we wanted it recorded that we did have a will. We agreed and it has been recorded somewhere on a database that our will exists. sorry, can't remember the name of the scheme exactly....

yes this is correct , there is a register that a wil has been made (but not the contents of the will) .

i looked for a wills section and couldnt find anywhere to post, life insurance, seemed to be a loose link!!
