car insurance , lost proof of no claim

i change my car insurance every year to keep premiums down. this year i got out my current insurance certificate which expired 30th october, renewed online with a new company, and inadvertantly threw away the certificate which just expired. now my new insurance company wants proof of my no claims and i cant remember who i was insured with last year to ask for it. any advice please?

    How did you pay for your insurance as you could check your bank statements for info.

  • do you not have the renewal documents theyy would have sent knocking about? Othereise as above check your online banking to see where the direct debits have been paid to

    You could ask your new insurers to do a MID check for a few days before you took your new policy out which will give them both the insurer and policy number. Problem is that MID is generally restricted to the likes of Claims and Fraud departments and even then can be only "specialists" that have access.

    Other than that then check back on your account statements on which ever method you choose to pay buy
