Cahoot

Options
Hi
My husband has got a savings account with Cahoot. We want to change our current account, so that we can earn interest on that as well. Is it better to go for a current account at Cahoot, so that we can transfer money between the two? Has anyone had experience of Cahoot on current accounts?
Thanks
Jackie

  • Yes, I have been with Cahoot for nearly 4 years. I have a current account and also a savings account. You can transfer money between the 2 accounts instantly.

The only thing that is not instant is if you both have separate Cahoot accounts and want to transfer between them. Even so, this is usually processed at the end of the day and the money's usually in the other account by 8pm.

I can recommend Cahoot. For sheer convenience, their website is excellent. I haven't used their telephone support too many times and some posters have reported potential issues in this area, but I personally can't knock them.

I've also had a Cahoot account for 4-5 years. My only problem with Cahoot is that you can't set up standing order between your current account and savings account. If you do, they take 4 days to move your cash. Other than that, they are OK.

We've got a current account and savings account with cahoot and have been very happy with them. Transfering funds from current to savings is quick and easy whether cahoot savings or other, although to cahoot savings it is almost instant. Changing our DD's etc when making cahoot our premier current account was easy and they were very helpful. Problems and queries are handles quickly and efficiently whether you contact them through the website or by telephone. I would certainly recomend them.

  • Hi

Thanks everyone for your helpful advice. Looks like we should go with Cahoot.

  • If cahoot were the last bank on the planet I'd keep my money in a sock. They are on a par with Halifax - who made 5 mistakes in the 6 weeks they had my business.

I have had an account with Allied arab bank/ allied trust bank now called Investec for about 15 years and I have yet to notice a single mistake. I have had faultless service from Nationwide too.

Yes, their customer service leaves a lot to be desired, but they do give good interest rates. And you can get £10 cashback when you open one of their accounts. See this thread.
