How generic are webcam drivers. I have an old xp webcam (with no serial number) and a windows 7 64 bit OS which recognises it as "USB camera" but that is all.
Is there a trustworthy site I can get drivers to try - should I bin the webcam. I will have to buy another one.

It has already been recognised as a camera, you just need to install some software to use it (eg, something like WebcamMax).Remember kids, it's the volts that jolt and the mills that kill.0

There's a load of Cheap Webcams that are not (and never will be) supported in Win7.
I built up a small collection of half a dozen or so Webcams that Work great in XP or Vista, but when friends/family upgraded to Win7, they found that Win7 will never support that type of Webcam and dumped it on me.. lol
I ended up giving them away to a local charity for their PC's (they were all on XP!)Laters
