Mortgage with partner

Good Afternoon all :-)

After recently securing a full-time permanent job (woop woop!) I am looking into getting a mortgage, not sure if it would be possible to do this with my partner. Partner is currently in receipt of DLA, and no longer works due to deterioration of his condition.
I wouldn't have a problem with taking on the mortgage on my own and just have my partner living with me, but would like to know if the banks would accept him on the mortgage?

He would be classed as a dependant so as long as you earn enough money by yourself to cover the repayments, other outgoings and to be able to 'look after' him as well, they should accept him on the mortgage.

I've just applied for a mortgage as a FTB with my husband but because he's self-employed and doesn't have enough tax audits his income can't be taken in account. We still put him on the mortgage though just as a dependant instead.

If you have a problem getting him on the mortgage, you can just leave him off for now and then think about putting him on there if your situation changes at some point down the line.

Most lenders do take disability allowance in to account when assesing income for a mortgage application. So you should be fine. Its one of the only benefits which is taken in to account.
