My DH used to be like that but i put a stop to it when pregnant. I can't stand the smell of it but also don't think it's good to have everything completely sterile. His mum was a clean freak and he is asthmatic. So far our 2 year doesn't have it
He's just got chicken pox and DH caught it too because him mum kept him in a sterile bubble away from germs and viruses when youger (he is very poorly with it now) 0 -
I work as a cleaner and I detest bleach!! The smell gets right in my sinuses and into my taste buds yuck!! The only places I ever use it is in the toilet for stubborn stains and for kitchen sinks - it's just not necessary anywhere else. Tell him it affects your libido, he might stop :rotfl:Some people see the glass half full, others see the glass half empty - the enlightened are simply grateful to have a glass

The cleaning crew at our work ( about 800 people work in my place of work) are not allowed to use bleach, they are not supplied with it, the main reason being because it reacts with other chemicals to become noxious...
so far we've not had any outbreaks of legionella / salmonella / foot and mouth, the factory absence rate is about 2% iirc, and there are some really messy people there, so it proves to me there's no need for bleach everywhere.
We only use bleach in the toilet here at home.
If he thinks things need to be cleaner he could use anit bacterial sprays ( but you could water them down a bit when he's not looking):oMember of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

Rub your forearms and hands until they go bright red, or cover them with blusher, then show your OH and say you were just sat at the kitchen table and now you're having some kind of reaction, must be all the bleach...
(This may work, I actually did this at an old job where the cleaners used to use something foul smelling to clean my desk, until I became 'allergic' to it!)0 -
oh i'm with you on this one OP...we used to live with FIL and he would bleach everything...the smell gets right up my nose and i feel sick. he'd bleach teatowels and work surfaces but never quite rinse them enough so the smell lingered. it's only used in the toilet in our house...0

I love the smell of bleach I use it in my sink almost every day but I don't use loads.0

If he is going to clean things anyway, I wouldn't bother to clean them first!
Also, trying to wean him onto something else is a good idea, as well as developing an 'allergy' to bleach.Trust me - I'm NOT a doctor!0
