IE8 v IE9 Question

I notice that my laptop is asking me to update to IE8 also I see IE9 out. Are any of these good now or are they still got a way to go? we have o/s WinXP and Win7 both on IE7 just said that incase one of the above works better with one than the other.
The solving of a problem lies in finding the solvers.

    I don't think ie9 works on xp/ i refuse to use ie anyhow/ it's a mess/

    IE9 works fine for me, but it doesn't work on XP so IE 8 is the best you have there.

    Additionally you are running IE8 on win7 (it comes with it) and ie7 is not compatiable with win7.
