Its was every bank that the crowd walked passed including Santandar and the majority of the crowd smiled and took pictures every time they walked past a bank splattered with multi coloured paint. That included nurses, firemen, social workers, librarians, grannies, the lot. The crowd was pleased the youth had some balls and did what perhaps they themselves were too scared to do.

Wages are a transfer of wealth from consumers to X, where X depends on the economic system. In an economy primarily driven by the private sector (such as ours), wages are decided in a manner that maximises the wealth transfer to company owners. This is why in strongly capitalist countries (such as ours and the USA) the richest portion of society tends to get richer while real wealth for the majority of the population either decreases at a much lower rate, stagnates, or decreases over time. The rich are primarily increased with increasing their relative wealth and thus have little or no interest in creating wealth (and thus increasing their absolute wealth) when it's easier or more efficient to simply increase their share.
In an economy primarily driven by the public sector, wages can be allocated in a manner that prioritises a minimum 'acceptable' level of net wealth. Thus the X will be 'the consumers'.
Ilya it is rare on here to get a well-argued Marxist perspective (actually its rare to get any Marxist perspective). I might not agree politically with all you've written but it's a breath of fresh air to get a different and considered view on things and hope you stick around. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Odd thing is that if the capitalist system you so dislike decided to throw in the towel tomorrow, none of those you mention would get paid anymore.0 -

I'm not a marxist, so not sure how you can come to that conclusion. The point is these guys wont get paid soon anyway, the system is imploding on its own stupidity. Sounds like you've not seen the film too, watch it, its really good, even you don't agree ...

I haven't read the thread through properly and have people coming round any minute now for dinner.....but these protesters haven't got a phukking clue. They can choke on their idealism for all I care or come live my life........from beginning to end......they probably wouldn't last the course, all far too stressful.
If you really want to change things you have do it from the inside.......do what you believe, trade in the way you think is right, if you run a business, register it here in the UK and pay the taxes due....don't waste time and energy targetting businesses who they think are 'wrong'.....complete and total waste of time.....mind you, they'll be uploading their YT's and thinking they made an impact (cos it was shown on telly) and you know what?
They did phuk all of any value whatsovever...just made a mess, made a noise and that doesn't last. What last's is what you do not what you say.
I have guests arriving now so I'll get off me box but I am sooooo mad at the pointlesseness of it all. Winds me up to the nth
I completely agree with everything you have said in both this post and your previous one.0 -
I dont care what it looks like when we're gone. I just don't want the muppet show above who bemoan the ecosystem of oxford street but care little of the real one to be allowed to set the political agenda, as they try to do.
So get off your a$$ $$ and actually DO something, create something, set up a better way (from your point of view), employ those people who are about to be disenfranchised and abandoned by the government/system/whatever. Save them.
I would recommend reading some Seth Godin or some stuff by the bloke that set up 37 signals.
You can either exist within the system that's set in place or set your own one up. Generally, it's easier to find some middle ground (which is the place I post from) but marching/shouting/throwing things might make one feel better (I do know that as I am quite up for a rant from time to time meself but solo and without harming anyone in the process) and it may flag up the issue and prompt further debate but, ultimately, it achieves less long term than taking and putting the energy into creating something that you believe in.
It's up to the young generation to create the new systems, to put right the things they feel are wrong but just shouting in the street and tapping away on a forum won't create real effective change.Because it's degrading to women.
Not really........it's just a bit if fun and fluff.

What daubing on a window? I don't call it 'ball s '' at all....balls is something completely different.
Anyways, I have popped on here (pre a very nice dinner) and was surprised at some of the posts if I am honest.
I have sympathy with the public sector workers who feel hard done by but it's whooshing over my head...and I am being honest here )+ I am no 1 fan of nurses and the job they do) but we were on the front line of the crunch and had to adapt quickly and it was completely terrifying at times.......didn't have time to march and moan.
I don't know anyone who hasn't been affected including those who haven't had any effects on the ££ in their pockets (but had to oversee the laying off of very talented colleagues and, ultimately, chose to leave the post because of this) and I am a bit 'whatever' about it all as no-one is owed a living, the world changes all the time and the rules change with it and if one is passive, then you're going get shafted by whoever holds the reins whether that's the govt., the big corps, your boss, your company, your customer. Who knows?
I haven't watched any footage today of the clear up and I am guessing London will be recovered by tomo and life goes on.0
