56 plate Astra..lacquer peeling off side skirt...
Everytime i wash the car its getting worse. Its at the rear end of side skirts and the horizontal bit along the door(where sxi badge is) is peeling aswel. So looks a bit of a rid up! Anyone got advice on stopping it in its tracks/tidying it up?
Think i should just t cut the effected areas...would that help?

Unfortunately you cant stop it, it needs removed (whole panel or spot) and redone. Is it an aftermarket part thats been added or has the bodywork been damaged? You might have it redone under warranty that way.0

Dont really know what you mean, sorry! I bought the car in June 2010 from a car dealer...so will it be covered from them or from Vauxhall?
The bodywork has not been damaged...that i know of? Its the orignal parts as far as im aware...

Picture might help..."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

It is often down to a poor quality body repair, the only way to fix it is to have the offending lacquer removed and the panel etc. resprayed.
T Cut will not help.0 -
if no previous repair can be seen, and is untouched vauxhaul will repair under paint warrenty usually. messing with it makes it worse and any temp repair invalidates the warranty.
if it had been a poor repair to stop it to save up is to put some nail varnish on it (clear varnish) or nail hardner. have done this a few times just remove the milky flakey parts to a solid bit of paint then put it around the edges of laquer meets paint to stop it growing even further. then when you have the cash to repair it wont be a bigger charge as they would have to remove the laquer anyway in that panel and redo.0 -

Thanks atrixblue, i will try that. In October i can hand the car back to dealer...cant wait for that! Went in and seen what my options were as car is absolute useless in winter...turns out i have £6k left to pay and they value the car now at £4.5k...so come October il have £4.7k left to pay and car will be worth under £4k id imagine...really rubbish how its turned out as i was happy with my buy to start with.
All i really need is to get it looking in ok condition for the garage taking it back. But that wont be until October.Work in progress...Update coming July 2012.
