Beware paying up front for RAC cover

I have just bought a new VW car which included 12 months RAC cover. I had paid 12 months cover in December which cost £89, not thinking I would be buying a new car I did not really pay attention when I was told that if I did cancel after 14 days I would not be able to get a refund, which means that I have paid £89 for three months cover! So if you are joining it is best to pay by DD or lose out on money as you cannot cancel. I have learned the hard way, just be aware of this.

Have you asked them if they would suspend your membership for a year?

No but I don't think that they do that any more.

It's an insurance, so it's worth a call to the FOS to test if this is a fair t&c, as it wouldn't be for some other insurances.
(Assuming you haven't made a claim)

Give them a call and report back

Would it be wise to confirm whether they do the suspension stuff or not?

Why is it worth paying on direct debit... its still a contract and the full amount being paid is due regardless of it being monthly or in one payment? =/

Seriously, no matter what you sign, if it's in the t&c's, it must be true, so you'd do it?
