Lidl are selling a Targa 400GB External Hard Drive for £139.99 from 30/11/06. It states in the description that it is supplied with an Ethernet cable but only mentions a USB 2.0 port. No info on this product on the Targa site. Anyone know if this has an ethernet connection ? If so £139.99 looks cheap for a 400GB NAS device.

Says it's supplied with a usb cable. Doubt it would come with the ethernet cable as stated.0

If it is USB 2.0 only then I don't expect it would come with a Ethernet cable. But £139.99 is not a very good price for USB only (even PC World sell a Freecom 400GB USB 2.0 external hard drive for £114.98 inc vat and delivery, also available at Dabs and Ebuyer for a similar price). Which is why I thought that there is a chance it also has a Ethernet connection hence the inclusion of both USB and Ethernet cables in the description.0

For anyone who is interested this does have a Ethernet connector as well as USB 2.0 and is supplied with Ethernet and USB cables. It doesn't state what speed the ethernet interface is but the instalation instructions recommend it is used in a 100Mbps wired LAN or 802.11g/a wireless LAN environment making me think it is FastEthernet. Haven't installed it yet so cannot comment on how good it is.0

seems interesting, although what would be the use of having the ethernet cable??
what does this enable it to do basically??

I guess so you can access it as part of a network, i.e. not being dependant on being connected to a PC that’s always switched on?I love my spell checker, it stops me making all sorts of stupid smelling mistakes. :doh:0
