I went to Tesco yesterday and bought 7 items, 3 were double the difference but 4 were not. Looking at my receipt, the 3 that had double the difference have asterisks next to them but the other 4 items do not. Does anyone know why this is please? Do the tills "know"?

My salmon didn't have a * next to it

We think it's to do with VAT pricing

I don't know for definite, but I think they are the items where VAT is included (as essential items are VAT free)?

  • I just wanted to say thank you to all who have posted on this forum as it has really changed our (family) lives for the better, i have worked so hard for so many years and have gone without many things, holidays are something i dream of each year and say... next year but next year does not happen. Little things like this DTD has meant i have a few pennies spare in my purse and I am so happy. I actually feel like I am ahead for the first time in ages.
so thank you for your all help in finding the gems that have saved me so much money. I also find this very exciting and will miss it when its over. But until then.... tomorrow is another day.... another shop....:j I really do not feel any guilt at all about going to shop deliberately for items which will give me a discount voucher as its a legitimate offer from Mr T and I intend to use it. I have been offered a little bit of luck and I wont say no.
