Can anyone tell me the cheapest way to buy the 'cathedral city lighter' thats on offer buy 1 get 2 free at T's at the moment, i can't quite work out if its best to buy two and get dtd back? or ifs its not worth waisting dtd on and just get three with a 'normal shop' without getting dtd??
:o
Don't bother with it. Instead, get the seriously strong at £3 (£2 at Asda) - works out at £1 a block. That is unless you want the lighter (and smaller by 50g) Cathedral city. My kids wont touch it unless it's mature and they range from 3 up!
Easiest way is buy 10 blocks - use £5 co-op voucher - get £20 voucher back i.e. 10 blocks of cheese for £5! :beer:I am firmly across the line. I won't impose my values on you if you keep away from mine.

Have few lists today which if an item is OOS I have back ups lists ready. Will NOT deviate & have T special offers for a side shop.
Am I the only person NOT interested in the lamb?
Also a non drinker so all the wine deals are over my head however I do plan to grab a bottle for a gift, is the Mateus a safe bet, nice to gift out?
Lamb would be lovely, but I've decided I'd rather get more for my voucher than just 2 packs of the lamb! The mind is like a parachute. It doesn't work unless it's open0 -
POSSIBLE ANSWER TO SOME OF THE "BUT IT WAS DEFINITELY ON ASDA'S WEBSITE" DISCREPANCIES...
When checking prices/availability on groceries.asda.com yesterday, I discovered a possible reason why some MSE'rs are successful and others unsuccessful on seemingly the same items on the same day. It's postcode-based.
When searching on "rack of lamb" - it returned "ASDA Extra Special British rack of lamb - £12.97/kg". But then entering my postcode (but not logging in with a registered account), the same search returned nothing.
I experimented further, with product searches for the Scottish staple "Irn Bru" accross different postcodes on asda.com and got different results depending on location. (Its at the "Please check to see if we deliver to your postcode" bit. After verifying postcode, it bases product searches on this location)
My hunch is that each night/morning, Tesco run a series of data extracts from Asda.com - based on each Tesco store's postcode (or perhaps a key "regional" store). This would give Tesco a daily data warehouse of local Asda prices for each Tesco store - which your particular receipt will be processed against.
Further evidence of this was 4pt. semi-skimmed milk earlier in the week. It was £2.25 in Scotland but £2.00 elsewhere (Asda). I noted others getting £0.25 difference (DTD 50p) against the Tesco price of £2.25, but my receipt matched Asda so no DTD.
I'd suggest MSE'rs ENTER THEIR POSTCODE (or the postcode of their chosen Tesco store) into groceries.asda.com PRIOR to checking availability/pricing at Asda as this may be significant in their DTD successes.
As a data warehouse IT bod by day (and DTD harvester by night!) this is certainly do-able, and because neither Tesco or Asda have national pricing (plus regional stocked products) this would seem likely.

It's official, I'm now completely obsessed! I'm adding a column on the SS (on my hard copy) to put in what I have bought - this will give me the total spent (in theory!) and total vouchers back. To reduce total spend I'll input all my previous vouchers (got them in folders over lots of e-mails) in the vouchers space at bottom of SS!
I'll let you know when it ends, or I'm divorced and have no room in house! :rotfl::AI am firmly across the line. I won't impose my values on you if you keep away from mine.

works out the same - £1.5/ block, so do it in a noraml shop
Dont do it in a DTD shop like i did the other day though:o Forgot to put it in with my 'normal' shop amd lost out on some DTD as obviously it takes your whole receipt. Ah well, you win some you lose some. Hubby is currently printing out £90 worth of vouchers and i have another £30 or so coming so not like i'm losing out!The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0 -

Whilst what you say is somewhat correct, it's also somewhat incorrect. When Tesco check your receipt they check based on the average price across the nation (how many they check is unknown). Therefore, the lamb does work, for everyone, it just doesn't show up on some people's searches.
